When returning your rental vehicle please ensure it is refuelled unless you have selected a pre purchase fuel option. If you do not refuel before return and have not pre purchased fuel, refuelling will be charged at the price stated on your rental agreement.

Please park in a designated space and lock your vehicle. We have two drop boxes for your car keys; one is situated on the outside of the small office next to the rank and the other is inside the airport terminal on top of the booth counter.

If you are running late and you won't be able to collect your rental car at the allocated time, it is important to get in touch with the branch you are collecting from so that we can make alternate arrangements. If you have arrived at the branch and it is closed and if you haven't made prior arrangements for an after-hours collection you will need to pick-up your rental car the following day.

Car Rental Kerikeri Airport

Kerikeri is a spectacular vacation destination, located in the northland of the North Island of New Zealand. While you’re probably full of excitement and anticipation as you land on this island nation, you can relax knowing that your rental car is already sorted, with you picking it up the moment you land, at Kerikeri Airport Dollar.

Kerikeri is the gateway to one of the most beautiful regions in New Zealand, The Bay of Islands. With incredible scenery, wildlife, and plenty of history, there is always something to do while staying here. Make sure to pack a rain jacket for your travels, as while the climate in Kerikeri is warm and temperate, it does experience a lot of rain.

Kerikeri and the Bay of Islands are one of the most beautiful regions in New Zealand. Full of history, culture, and nature, you’ll spend plenty of time outside and exploring here before perhaps venturing to other parts of the North Island. However you choose to spend your time in Kerikeri, we know that you’ll have a fantastic time with Dollar.

Explore Rainbow Falls and More with Dollar

Take in the beauty of Rainbow Falls while you’re visiting Kerikeri. Rainbow Falls is a 27-metre high waterfall that offers impressive views from many vantage points. See them from above from one of the easy walks, or hike down and listen as the water thunders down.

You can partner the Rainbow Falls with the Kerikeri River Track, which is a 1.5-hour walk one way. Follow the winding track past impressive sights, like the Rainbow Falls and Wharepuke Falls. Take the opportunity to learn about the history of the region too, by stopping at Kemp House and Stone Store. You’ll find the walk both beautiful and incredibly informative.

Stone Store is one of the oldest buildings in New Zealand and has been in operation since 1833. While here, learn about the first Māori and European Missionary encounters in New Zealand. This store is located on Kerikeri Road: if you don’t want to combine this visit with the walk, you can simply drive here instead!

Perhaps spend the day exploring the River Track, before heading for a fun afternoon trying out the local food on offer here in Kerikeri. There is a great climate here for growing local produce, including chocolate, fruit, and wine. We recommend checking out the Makana Chocolate Factory to satisfy your sweet tooth. If you can enjoy responsibly and have a designated driver, there is a thriving wine region in Kerikeri too. Winery hop from Marsden Estate, Fat Pig Vineyard, Cottle Hill Winery, and Ake Ake Vineyard. You’ll definitely have a fun afternoon here!

Drive around the Bay of Islands

Kerikeri is an inland region to the magnificent Bay of Islands: an area you would definitely want to explore while on vacation here. Full of incredible beaches, magical islands, waterfalls and forests, plus plenty of interesting history, the Bay of Islands region is an amazing place to spend time in and explore.

We recommend driving out of Kerikeri to head to Paihia, which is a 25-minute drive. Paihia is the main tourist town of the Bay of Islands, and there are ample activities to do here.

Perhaps book onto a boat tour to see some of the islands that are off the coast here. Plenty of boat tours offer a half-day tour of the Islands; you’ll also spot the Hole in the Rock, which is an important cultural and historical spot according to Māori legend. According to legend, local warriors would paddle through the Hole in the Rock in their canoes prior to battle. If drops of water landed on them during this activity, it was considered good luck. So, be in awe as your boat skipper navigates through the Hole in the Rock while informing you of this tale, it’s hard to do through the narrow space.

While on a boat tour here, keep an eye out for dolphins. There’s plenty of marine life that call this area their home, so you may spot a whale or two, too!

Kerikeri is a wonderful base for your Bay of Islands adventure. There’s plenty to do, see, and discover, and you can do it all with your rental car from Dollar Kerikeri Airport. We can’t wait to welcome you here, soon.
